Welcome
Cape Town is one of the gems of our globe. When the Program Organizing Committee met there in October 2017, we all experienced the wonderful hospitality and warm embrace of the mother city of Africa in all its beauty and charm. The ICE program is designed to integrate the best of international scientific and clinical endocrinology with the unique experiences of Africa. Both the challenges and enormous promise of effective global medicine will be presented by experts in endocrine disorders, as they integrate scholarly advances with real world disease prevalence including diabetes, infectious diseases, obesity and reproductive disorders, coupled with elucidating complex rare genetic and acquired disorders of the endocrine system. Cape Town will be the ideal host city for this large celebration of endocrine science and discovery, as we advance global endocrine care.

The Society for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa (SEMDSA) is proud and excited to have been selected to host ICE 2018 together with our 53rd annual SEMDSA Congress. Cape Town, with its natural beauty, diversity, world-class facilities and long tradition of housing and promoting academic excellence is the perfect venue to welcome endocrinologists and physicians from around the world. The close proximity of the many tourist attractions in Cape Town provide a unique and exciting opportunity for researchers and clinicians to be exposed to state-of-the-art academic endocrinology whilst enjoying the numerous high quality tourist attractions, restaurants and sporting opportunities. The Cape Town Convention Centre is a world-class conference facility located in the centre of the tourist district of Cape Town, offers majestic views of Table Mountain and is surrounded by numerous luxurious hotels. ICE 2018 is a conference not to be missed and SEMDSA is therefore looking forward to welcoming our many colleagues from around the world.
