Dr Selma Witchel
|Selma Feldman Witchel, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Witchel is a board certified pediatric endocrinologist. Dr. Witchel completed her undergraduate degree at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. She obtained her MD at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. She returned to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA to complete her fellowship in pediatric endocrinology under the supervision of Dr. Allan Drash.
She is the Director of the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Co-Director of the Unified Fellows’ Course. She established, and continues to serve as the Co-Chair, of the Disorders of Sex Development Ethical Committee at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Dr. Witchel’s areas of interest includes polycystic ovary syndrome, neuroendocrinology of puberty, sex development, and disorders of steroidogenesis such congenital adrenal hyperplasia. She has published over 125 peer-reviewed articles and 26 book chapters. She is the Chair of the Education Committee of the Pediatric Endocrine Society. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. Her trainees are faculty members in academic pediatric endocrinology centers throughout the United States. Dr. Witchel has been actively involved in the Androgen Excess-Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Society and is a Past President of AE-PCOS.
